Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the PH02S and PH06?
The core difference is the vibration damping system. The PH02S uses multi-stage rubber damping — effective for road and light off-road use at a $57 price point. The PH06 uses LOBOO's patented magnetic damping structure, which reduces transmitted vibration intensity by increasing the amplitude at the isolator — providing superior phone stability on heavily corrugated off-road terrain and continuous rough-road vibration. The PH06 also adds a 1-second auto-lock mechanism for faster single-handed loading. If you ride only on paved roads, the PH02S is sufficient. If you ride any significant off-road, the PH06's magnetic damping is a meaningful upgrade that protects both your phone's OIS module and your navigation readability.
Will handlebar vibration damage my phone's camera?
On high-vibration engines — particularly large single and twin-cylinder motors at low RPM off-road — sustained vibration can damage the optical image stabilisation (OIS) module in smartphone cameras over time. Apple, Samsung, and other manufacturers have issued guidance on this risk. LOBOO's vibration damping systems, particularly the magnetic damping in the PH06, are designed to reduce the vibration transmitted to the phone to safe levels for extended riding. The PH06's magnetic damping system is specifically engineered around this use case — protecting cameras as well as keeping the display stable.
Does wireless charging work through a phone case?
Yes — the 15W wireless charging module in both the PH02S and PH06 works through standard plastic, rubber, and thin leather phone cases up to approximately 3–4mm thick. Cases with metal plates or built-in card holders may interfere with wireless charging, in which case the wired 24W PD fast charging option provides an alternative that is not affected by case material. The charging port connector is accessible on both models with the phone mounted.
Can I mount the phone holder on a GPS mount bar rather than the handlebar?
Yes — if your GPS mount includes a 22mm crossbar (as most LOBOO GPS mounts do), the PH02S and PH06 can be clamped to that bar rather than the handlebar itself. This positions the phone in the windshield area alongside your GPS unit rather than on the bars, which many riders prefer for ergonomic sightline alignment. Check the crossbar diameter on your specific GPS mount before ordering to confirm compatibility.
What phone sizes are compatible?
The PH02S accommodates phones from 65–98mm wide, 125–170mm long, and up to 13mm thick including the case — covering all current iPhone models (including Max sizes), Samsung Galaxy S and Note series, and virtually all large-format Android devices. The PH06 accommodates 65–92mm wide, 125–169mm long, and up to 12.5mm thick. If your phone is at the upper end of the width range, measure with your case installed before ordering.
How does the 1-second auto-lock on the PH06 work?
The PH06 uses a patented dual-stage locking mechanism. Place your phone against the mount and press — the lower jaw springs up automatically to grip the bottom edge of the phone, and the upper sliding block extends to secure the top simultaneously. The entire process takes under a second and requires no manual clamp tightening. To release, press the side trigger. This is specifically designed for use with gloves on, where standard screw-tighten clamps are awkward and slow at trailheads.
What other cockpit accessories pair well with a phone holder?
For a complete cockpit setup, pair your phone holder with a GPS mount for a dedicated navigation device position, handlebar risers to bring both your bars and mounted devices into an ergonomic sightline when standing, and LED auxiliary lights to extend the visibility that makes your navigation useful in low-light conditions. For total cockpit security, crash bars with integrated mounting points provide a more stable base for accessories than bar clamps alone.
