How many lumens do I need for motorcycle auxiliary lights?

For trail and forest road riding at night, 15,000lm (L7S or L11 pair) is a significant upgrade over most stock headlights. If you regularly ride fast open roads or remote dirt tracks in full darkness, the 19,000–21,000lm of the L16 or L18S makes a meaningful difference to how far ahead you can see.
